QA1 Expands Offerings of GM Full-Vehicle Suspension Kits

January 20, 2017

QA1 has expanded its offering of full-vehicle suspension kits to include 1975-1979 GM X-bodies, 1973-1977 GM A-bodies, 1970-1972 Monte Carlos and 1969-1972 Grand Prix. For each vehicle, QA1 offers both performance handling and drag racing kit options in up to three different levels of performance.

Custom tailored for each vehicle and its performance goals, each kit includes the ideal combination of suspension components for each performance level, including double, single, or Drag “R” Series adjustable Pro Coil shocks and struts; double, single, Drag “R” Series adjustable or non-adjustable smooth body Stocker Star shocks; tubular suspension components such as sway bars, control arms and trailing arms; and accessories like spanner wrenches, caster camber plates and tie rod sleeves. Each kit has been modeled around on-car testing and market research to provide improved handling and reaction to track and road conditions. For performance handling, these kits increase cornering ability; for drag racing, they create a more controlled launch and improve straight line stability.

QA1 Handling Kits

Because each component in the kits works seamlessly with whatever OE component it attaches to, those who don’t want to make the whole investment right away can build a car in stages, using the product list as a road map. “Our goal was to develop suspension systems that not only achieved specific performance objectives, but also gave someone a guide to build towards,” says Dave Kass, QA1 Customer Service Manager. “Building a vehicle doesn’t happen all at once, and we understand that. That’s why we wanted to lay out a plan that eliminates compatibility issues while also maximizing performance.”

Kits that include coil-over shocks have spring rates that were carefully selected to maximize performance based on the level and goal of each kit. They are geared towards average weight small block and LS powered vehicles with stock trim. Where applicable, the handling kits offer spring rates that are optimized for cornering performance while spring rates in the drag kits were chosen to maximize stored energy for weight transfer. The kits are also offered without shocks to give drivers the flexibility to order the shocks or struts with the spring rates they want.

QA1’s suspension kits are offered for a variety of GM A-, F-, G- and X-body vehicles; Ford Mustangs; and Mopar A-, B- and E-body vehicles.  All QA1 aluminum shocks, steel struts and tubular suspension components are made in QA1’s Lakeville, Minnesota facility, with all shocks and struts 100% dyno tested and serialized.
