Packaging & Assembly Engineer

Responsible for packaging strategy and design for QA1 products including but not limited to shock absorbers, vehicle suspensions, weldments, drivetrain, spherical bearings, rod end bearings, and ball joints by performing the following duties.  Support final assembly, boxing, kitting, and shipping operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and validate efficient consumer packaging solutions while considering safety, cost, aesthetics, environment, and time constraints.
  • Ensure a great open box experience for QA1 customers.
  • Optimize the flow of semi-finished inventory through final assembly, packaging, and shipment.
  • Serve as the technical expert for assembly and packaging operations.
  • Use research, analytical, and conceptual, to continuously improve the cost effectiveness, protection, and consumer experience that results from QA1 packaging strategies.
  • Produce engineering drawings that specify materials, finishes and tolerances.
  • Performs necessary calculations related to the design including but not limited to strength, fatigue, weight, cost, flow, and speed.
  • Conduct process FMEAs to predict and address weak points in packaging and packaging process flow.
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Generate bill of materials and implement in ERP software.
  • Participate in cross functional design review of projects.
  • Assist in constructing prototypes as needed and recommending modifications following prototype test results.
  • Conduct testing, validation of designs and evaluation of theoretical designs.
  • Participate in training events related to projects.
  • Generate release notes and work instructions on projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Inventory software
  • Internet software
  • Project management software
