QA1 Releases New Mustang Carbon Fiber Driveshafts

March 23, 2017

QA1 now offers its award-winning REV™ Series carbon fiber driveshafts for 2005-2017 Mustang GTs and GT350s. Certified to the SFI 43.1 specification, these driveshafts have high speed capability and built-in strength while still being lighter than other driveshafts, providing as much as 50% weight savings over stock.

2005-2016 Mustang Driveshaft

Designed for vehicles with up to 1500 HP with a max rated torque of 1000 lb*ft, these one-piece bolt-on Mustang driveshafts feature a flange yoke front attachment that’s specific to these Mustangs and a high speed CV joint on the rear with a high speed sealing boot and high temp grease. This high speed capability, combined with the tube’s uniform wall thickness from being wound in-house, improves performance by minimizing the effects of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) that were common in the factory two-piece driveshafts.

Every part of these driveshafts was designed to optimize strength and performance, allowing them to meet SFI's 43.1 stringent standards for safety and performance. A new version of QA1’s exclusive 3M™ Matrix Resin was designed specifically for high temperature applications like the modern Mustang and is used to ensure the ultimate torque capacity under the most extreme conditions. A high-strength structural adhesive bonds the tube to the CNC machine forged tube yokes using a proprietary 11-step bonding procedure, ensuring a better balance while providing increased assembly strength. Spicer Life Series 1350 U-Joints also provide durability and high torque capacity and are sealed for maximum strength and no maintenance.

In addition to being stronger than steel, aluminum and other carbon fiber driveshafts, QA1 REV™ Series driveshafts are lighter than other driveshafts as well. Most applications are under 20lbs and show substantial weight savings over stock Mustang driveshafts, providing as much as 50% weight savings over the standard two-piece shafts. The strength and weight savings together provide extended transmission and differential life, quicker acceleration and more power to the ground.

Carbon fiber also provides dramatic safety benefits, especially for racing. Many people have seen the damage that a steel or aluminum driveshaft can do to a racecar. In the unlikely event of a failure, a QA1 carbon fiber driveshaft splinters, so you don’t have to worry about it coming up through the floor board and seriously hurting you or your car.

Extensively tested before, during and after production to ensure the highest quality, all QA1 driveshafts are proudly made in-house in QA1’s Lakeville, Minnesota facility. QA1 also offers REV™ Series carbon fiber driveshafts for 1979-2004 Mustangs, along with custom options in a variety of configurations.
